It is characterized by strawberry and clove flavors that are said to be quite similar to those of the Romanée-Conti strata of the vineyard. Vosne-Romanée is the village where Romanée-Conti, the most famous and expensive vineyard in the world, is located. Rige Belair is based in Vosne-Romanée. The Lige Belair family, a noble family with a long history of serving Napoleon as soldiers, owned many excellent special and first class vineyards, but left them to the negociants. However, the seventh generation head of the family, Louis-Michel Léger-Belair, released the first vintage of Léger-Belair in 2000 under the guidance of Henri Jayer and Jean-Yves Bizot, the gods of Pinot Noir. In 2002, he released the Grand Cru La Romanée. The viticulture at Lige Belair is extremely meticulous and precise. The vineyards are cultivated using traditional methods with horses, and the grapes are grown organically without herbicides. The wines produced have a natural taste, with the flavor of the grapes coming through naturally.

La Colombière is a well located parcel of land that can be described as "a vineyard with strata quite similar to Romanée-Conti. Ninety-five percent of the vineyard is planted with old vines that are 60 to 80 years old, producing a wine with dense flavor and elegance.

The wine is dark ruby red in appearance. When poured into a glass, the dense aromas of ripe strawberries and wild berries are accompanied by gorgeous scents of orange peel, peony, clove, bay leaf, and toasted oak. The palate is velvety smooth, juicy and dense, medium to full-bodied. The fine acidity and salty minerality bring the whole thing together and provide a fine finish.
